STILL LIFE - shooting assignment CPFA

Great job everyone 1st MP! This 2nd MP is starting off with the b&w assignment of "Love & Aperture" and shooting still lifes with digital cameras ( and some film!) in class. You MUST bring in at least 1 prop/object that is something meaningful/symbolic to you personally and 1 FRUIT or VEGETABLE - the more stuff, the merrier! ex: a bag of lemons.

Thanks ahead of time for your class contribution!

"Photo Cubism" Assignment

Here are a few David Hockney images...I had asked Level 2 students to research his work(and/or other cubist painters...Picasso!...Braque! and other photographers) and either document some of their work / inspiration for your own work on the blog here...and/or your sketchbooks.

Here is also a collage that Toree Schwartz was experimenting with a few years ago that I thought was interesting - it is from the extra leftover prints we had here form the class pics....

Isobel and Sasha

This is the 8th year I have photographed Isobel at the cherry blossom path at Everhart Park near my home...the 2nd year for Sasha...

well... "I" am blogging!

This is a collage I am working on -still in progress...it is silk screened images of my own photos with various types of paint and colored pencils...it is feeling a bit cluttered, so I am trying to add more to actually make it feel less so and tie it all together. It is one of my pieces that is about the layers of life - on earth - beneath earth and above earth - each of these "layers" of life have a lot of symbol and unconscious dream stuff I am trying to let go of/perhaps "deal" with a little bit...my daughter Isobel and my dad are in here - they are both in my art a lot, for I love them dearly and they both have been very powerful influences on the way I look at things...I'll write more about this later.

thinking about Landscapes...

Here is photo of chillin' Sanibel man I met in Sanibel Island Florida - I'll post some more pics of him soon...and I am going to try to post random photos I have taken in the past year - in order to force myself to organize/print and edit them... for my family, for myself as an artist, and to share with my students...

orange still life w/ texture layer

I remembered how to post BIG! I shot this in my studio and the texture layer is a silkscreen I did from my photos of Isobel and my dad that I had added paint to and scanned...

I think in Advanced Photo, after we are done with "Self Portraits" and "The Other", we will end the year with "Landscapes" and texture ...not that you can't play with t
exture a lot with all of our assignments....

Here is some pics I found of Francesca Woodman's that are lovely. I am thrilled to see her face in this one, which she does not typically show...

Let's get posting...

oh me, oh my...Advanced Photo - we have got to get posting...let's do it with your answers to finding an inspiring "Self Portrait" artist to research and posting a new digital pic you have taken recently that you would like some feedback on...ok- let's do it!
this is Isobel and Sasha pic for our holiday card - the only image where both of them were not crying or walking off the backdrop!
