my sweet nephew on the walk I was telling my students that i went on that inspired making sure all cpfa students get a nice walk in fall with their cameras...i want to post more, but alas, i must cook dinner...will do some more editing & posting asap...happy "last colors of fall" shooting to all of you.

abstraction...

Here is just ONE shot from our Grounds for Sculpture field trip...I will upload more soon. This reflection image is shot with my 7 year old point & shoot camera. That day I also used my cell phone for a bunch of pics. I had to carry a lot of things and really wanted to be there to help others and did not want to be bogged down with my heavy camera - also decided to leave my pro camera on bus at last minute because it really looked like it was going to rain - it seemed like a miracle it did not - we were so lucky to have GREAT weather - we had it all, cloudy interesting sky, good shaded light, a drizzle of rain, and bright beautiful sunshine! I got some good photos there, hardly trying and using tres low-tech cameras - shows it is NOT the equipment, but the pure intent and knowledge of composition & design....

Let's see if this link works a place to view ALL! the photos I took in Turkey - there are over 2,000...I was there for almost 3 weeks. I was with a large family group the whole time, so my pics are okay...I did not have the creative time I would have like to really take a closer, slower, quieter look with my camera that I like to do when I am not traveling with crazy, (but cute!) 3 year old and lots of other family trailing ahead or behind me....

This image is from a series of flowers I photographed in my studio this past Spring...this image is currently on exhibit at the CCAA (Chester County Artist Association) until Sept. 30th. Hope you can go see this really cool show of the digital photographic "Wet Transfer" process, as well as the Members annual juried exhibition......

CPFA Students on Exhibit

Lower & Upper Schoolers have paintings & photography on exhibit in a cute, "fun & funky" gallery space at KatiMac Floral Designs flower shop on High & Miner street in the boro of West Chester. Call gallery for open hours. Show will be on exhibit until June 30th.

9th Year with the Cherry Blossoms

I have been photographing Isobel Rose here for 9 years - since she was 6 months old. This is the 3rd year for her and sister, Sasha Violet, to be photographed together. You can tell a lot about their relationship by this particular shot. This image is not posed. I tend to like the surprises that happen for me as I photograph people. I always go to this site with "good" ideas of what I want and I always walk away surprised by the "magic" that happens in front of my lens. The experience of shooting people on location always leaves me feeling greatly rewarded - the gift of getting to know the person(s)...in this case growing closer to my daughters, and the most precious gift of "going with the flow" and cherishing the moment.

This is a National Geographic photographer that I love that works out of Exton, Pa - right near by...I am trying to arrange a visit of his studio rep to our school one day...the studio and he are very busy, but maybe one day! Check out his blog! Just today he posted about the power of poetry - what a coincidence! - We are working with poetry and landscape and environmental portraits - this is exactly what you will find when looking at his wonderful work - check it out - pick a favorite work, post it on your blog and write any thoughts you have concerning that image or his work...
